Chi Hack Night Your CPS

At Chi Hack Night, I presented Your CPS, an interactive tool that helps parents and students understand the budget of their school in Chicago. Working together with Patricia Gomez, an experienced journalist in education from Brazil, we investigated public available and FOIA-ed data on chicago school budget to understand how the money was being spent. We interviewed teachers, parents, members of Chicago teachers’ union as well as education experts on Chicago school system to gain a deeper understanding of the budget crisis that’s brewing in Chicago in the summer of 2015.
